JEDDAH: At the final turn, Maximilian Guenther of DS Penske passed Oliver Rowland of Nissan to win the first-ever Jeddah E-Prix. The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship was in its third round.

Guenther led the race at first, starting on pole position for the first time since Jakarta 2023. He did, however, lose momentum when Pit Boost obligatory pit stops were introduced in Formula E. Early energy deployment benefited Rowland, Taylor Barnard, and Nyck de Vries of Mahindra Racing, while Guenther saved energy for a late push.

Guenther's determination paid off as he battled his way back to second place and recorded the fastest lap on lap 27 before making a spectacular last-lap surge. He had a small energy advantage, but he took advantage of the last chicane and made a forceful drive to take Rowland's triumph. This victory ended a 17-race run in which the pole sitter had failed to turn the start into a victory and was Guenther's first since Tokyo last season.

Guenther remarked, "This means everything to me," "It's my first victory with DS Penske, my new team.  It was a huge race and a lot of work, but the results were fantastic for us.

After starting from P4, Barnard of NEOM McLaren finished in a solid third place to round out the podium.

Despite his setback, Rowland overtook Antonio Felix da Cost at the top of the Drivers' Championship standings with 43 points. Nissan is at the top of the Manufacturers' table, and Porsche is just three points ahead of DS Penske in the Teams' Championship.
